Central to any e-Learning effort is the need to manage learners, activities, resources, assessments, performance, reporting and communications in a centralized way through a Learning Management System (LMS).While e-Learning shows clear ROI, making the transition is often difficult and complex.

Migration from one web platform to another requires planning and design to avoid the typical pitfalls. For example, almost everyone wants to do a site redesign at the point of migrating to a new system. This is almost always a mistake, leading to missed deadlines and unnecessary complexity in migration.

Over the last several years I've worked with a number of home grown, commercial and open source Web Content Managment Systems. As technical lead on a number of migration projects and as an internal consultant to marketing teams I've helped advise on the choice of a Web CMS, and taken a major part in deploying and migrating to new implementations.

I design and build web applications including database-driven sites, everything from simple CGI forms to e-Learning assessment and content tools to web transactional databases. I stress gathering tight requirements, developing clear object-oriented design documents, and UI prototyping before touching a line of code.
